Full-Day Model

Learn about the Full-Day Model (FDM), when it will be introduced at MOE Kindergartens (MKs), and what your child can expect.

Overview

The FDM will first be piloted at MK@Rivervale and MK@West View in 2027, and thereafter, be progressively implemented across all MKs from 2028 to 2030. The FDM will bring learning, play and care together in a single full-day programme operated by MOE.

At the start of each year’s MK Registration Exercise, MOE will share the list of MKs implementing the FDM in the following year.

MKs on the FDM will operate from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, during school terms and school holidays, excluding public holidays, Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day, and centre closure days.

You can choose from:

  • Full-day programme: 7am to 7pm
  • Half-day programme: 7am to 12.30pm

The FDM will be run by MK Educators, supported by MOE-hired MK Programme Officers who will support programme delivery, care and supervision.

Programme

The FDM builds on the existing MK curriculum, offering a wider range of learning and play experiences that develop confidence and social skills, strengthen literacy and numeracy foundations, and prepare your child for Primary 1. Additional experiences include:

"Spotlight" experience

Children can explore their interests and take greater ownership of their learning, inspiring their authentic and motivated use of their Mother Tongue language.

Open-ended outdoor play

Children have opportunities to engage in self-directed exploration and experimentation with open-ended play materials to help them build physical confidence and resilience as they learn to navigate and assess risks within a safe and supportive environment.

"Delight" experience

During the school holidays, children participate in hands-on learning experiences and activities that incorporate STEM, drama, and visual arts, exposing them to new ideas and ways of thinking.

Fees and financial assistance

For MKs on the FDM, you will pay a single fee to the MK instead of separate fees for MK and Kindergarten Care (KCare).

Fees differ for the full-day and half-day programmes. Subsidies are available for eligible Singapore Citizen children.
