Explore pathways and understand the posting process
2. How posting works
You can only select JAE courses for which you have met the admission criteria.
You are posted to a post-secondary institution (JC, MI, polytechnic or ITE) based on:
- Your net aggregate score, which is gross aggregate score minus bonus points.
- Your course choices and order.
- Vacancies available in the courses.
Academic merit is the first criterion used in JAE posting.
Applicants with better net aggregate scores will be considered first for vacancies in their chosen course.
When there are 2 or more applicants with the same net aggregate score vying for the last available place in a course, tie-breakers will be used.
Tie-breakers will be applied in the following sequence:
- Citizenship status with priority given in the order of:
- Singapore Citizens
- Permanent Residents
- International students
- Gross aggregate score
Applicants with lower gross aggregate score are posted first
- Computerised balloting
Ayden and Amy are vying for the last course vacancy in the Science course at Jurong Pioneer Junior College.
They are both Singapore Citizens and have the same net L1R5 aggregate score of 15 points.
Their gross L1R5 aggregate score:
- Amy: 16 points (before subtracting 1 CCA bonus point)
- Ayden: 17 points (before subtracting 2 CCA bonus points)
In this case, Amy will be posted to the course as she has a better gross L1R5 aggregate score.
Balloting will only take place when applicants vying for the last course vacancy have the same net aggregate score, citizenship and gross aggregate score.
Yes, it is possible.
This happens when there are other applicants with the same net aggregate score vying for the last available place in the course.
If there are 2 or more applicants with the same net aggregate score vying for the last course vacancy, their posting will be determined according to the tie-breakers.
You will be allocated a course at the same type of institution you picked as your first choice, as long as there is available vacancy and you meet the entry requirements.
For example, if you have picked JC as your first choice, you will be posted to a JC course with vacancy.
However, if all courses you qualify for have no vacancies, you will not be admitted to any of them, and your JAE posting is considered unsuccessful. You may appeal for a polytechnic or ITE course through the JAE Online Appeal Portal.
Interest is a consideration for posting to Diploma in Nursing courses at Nanyang Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
If you meet the minimum entry requirements and have indicated one of these courses as your first choice, you will be given priority to be posted to the course.
