What Makes a Team?
By Jireh Foo & Ferdinand Samuel Surjaatmadja
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
Teacher Facilitator: Mr Loy Xing Jian

We found the answer while photographing our sportsmen who competed in the National School Games. A team is forged not from the sporting excellence of individual members. Rather, it is the determination to achieve a common goal. To be in a team means building each other up, having each other’s backs through victory and defeat, and above all, making memories and growing as a team. Be it our basketballers celebrating a win, our softballers rallying around a friend in need or our ruggers huddling up before a game, the pictures showcase scenes of our sportsmen’s resilience and solidarity.

Nan Chiau High School

Teacher Facilitator: Mr Johnson Ong

As people from diverse backgrounds, we came together and built a family in Nan Chiau High School, where all of us unite despite our differences. Unwavering effort, passion and grit enable us to brave through challenges. Even in the face of adversity, we continue smiling and preclude weariness from being an obstacle in our path. There is more to sports than simply winning and losing. Of course, the taste of victory is certainly sweet, but a greater reward comes out of being a part of a team – from forging strong bonds to creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Scouting is a special CCA where passionate students come together weekly to enjoy fun-filled activities. What makes it so unique is the many activities that emphasise strong teamwork and are addictively fun. Be it fire starting, pioneering, or tent pitching, there is always an element of camaraderie in every Scouting session. It is not always smooth sailing, but with the powerful unity of each Scout patrol, no roadblock can stop the Scouting spirit! Scouting is a lifelong journey that encourages wholesome development in students to play a constructive role in and out of school life.

Keeping Her Flag Unfurled
By Kow Ming Yuan
Victoria Junior College
Teacher Facilitator: Ms Goh Hui Hua

When National School Games resumed, many of our student athletes felt unprepared, lacking training due to Covid-19. However, sport is never an individual endeavour. With the support of those around them, our student athletes rose to the challenge. Victorians tirelessly cheered them on. Teams unified against their opponents while taking care of their teammates’ well-being. Coaches and captains devised strategies and rallied their teams for the win. If we lose, we lose with grace; if we win, we win with humility, and celebrate as one. We unite for the glory of the school, to keep her flag unfurled.
