Regional Studies Programme

This 6-year programme starting at Secondary 1 in selected schools aims to nurture non-Malay students who are proficient in Malay Language or Bahasa Indonesia, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to effectively engage the region. Find out more.

The Regional Studies Programme (RSP) is a 6-year programme beginning from Secondary 1 to JC2. It aims to nurture a segment of non-Malay students who are proficient in the Malay Language or Bahasa Indonesia and able to engage the region effectively.

All RSP students who are Singapore Citizen may be eligible for the Regional Studies Programme Scholarship. Application for scholarships is open to RSP students at Secondary 1 and Secondary 3 level.

Who can take it

Students who are enrolled in schools offering RSP at the secondary level, and offer:

  • Malay (Special Programme) or Bahasa Indonesia as a third language.
  • School-based non-examinable enrichment modules on “Understanding and Appreciating Southeast Asia".

Programme curriculum and activities

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a cultural camp organised by MOE, school-based local enrichment activities and overseas immersion programme.

  • Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
  • Cedar Girls’ Secondary School
  • Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary)
  • Raffles Institution
  • Victoria School
Only Victoria School offers Bahasa Indonesia to RSP students.

How to join

Interested students must first gain admission into the schools that offer RSP and apply for the programme.

Students can continue to offer RSP at pre-university level at:

  • Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
  • Raffles Institution (Junior College)
  • Victoria Junior College
