Scholarship Details

The MOE Teaching Scholarships/Award are offered to individuals who possess a passion for teaching. As a recipient of the MOE Teaching Scholarships/Award, you will be sponsored for your undergraduate tuition fees and receive an allowance.

You will also be given developmental opportunities to prepare you for an enriching career as a future educator. After you have begun your career as an educator and depending on your performance and potential, you may have the opportunity to take on key positions in the school or be deployed to the MOE Headquarters.

You may be offered the MOE Teaching Award (TA), MOE Teaching Scholarship (TS) or the MOE Education Merit Scholarship (EMS).

Scholarship Value and Benefits

Bond
  • 4 years for local studies
  • 5 years for studies in non-English speaking countries
  • 6 years for studies in English speaking countries 

After completing your undergraduate degree, you will enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE) for teacher training.

The PGDE programme at NIE comes with a 3-year bond. This will be served concurrently with your scholarship bond. The discharge of your bond period starts on the day you complete your PGDE training. The period of your PGDE training would not be counted towards the discharge of the 3-year PGDE bond.

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is willing to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • Currently pursuing relevant teaching subjects at a local or overseas university
  • Application should be made before the final year of your undergraduate studies
