A record 210 students received the Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) at the 2026 SgIS Award Ceremony on 28 July 2026, graced by Minister for Education, Mr Desmond Lee.

Launched in 2012, the SgIS is the only scholarship offered in partnership between the Government and local industries. SgIS has established itself as one of the choice scholarships in Singapore, growing from 28 Sponsoring Organisations (SOs) in 2012 to 146 this year. The 146 SOs come from 16 key sectors, including biomedical and pharmaceuticals, electronics, engineering, lifestyle and food, and social services. Since its inception, the SgIS has awarded scholarships to more than 2,000 recipients.

The SOs' strong support for SgIS provides good career opportunities that will develop a strong Singaporean talent pipeline to support strategic sectors. The SgIS also highlights the importance the Government and local industries place on developing this pipeline of local talent that is essential for Singapore's economy and businesses in the long run.

By end-2026, more than 1,400 SgIS scholars would have graduated from university. They will be part of a sustainable pipeline of industry leaders who can drive Singapore's economic growth.
