2. Eligibility criteria

Minimum entry requirements

Based on your ITE qualification, you will need to meet certain Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements to apply for polytechnic courses and qualify for exemptions:

Higher Nitec qualifications

If your net GPA is between 2.0 and 3.4

You will eligible to enter the 1st year of a related 3-year diploma course.

If your net GPA (including CCA bonus points) is 3.5 and above

Depending on the course applied, you will be eligible to enter your polytechnic course in one of the following:

  • 1st year of a related 3-year diploma course.
  • 1st year of a related 3-year diploma course with module exemptions.
  • 1st year of a related 3-year diploma course with exemption of the 1st 6 months in Year 1.
  • 2nd year of a related 3-year diploma course.
Note: If you are applying for entry to the 2nd year of relevant engineering courses, you must attain a pass in ITE Bridging Mathematics module or a minimum grade of C6 in O-Level Mathematics.
Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) graduates

If you are graduating from the DPP, you must attain the following minimum Higher Nitec Grade Point Average (GPA), excluding CCA bonus points, to be guaranteed a place in a mapped polytechnic course:

For graduates in Applied Sciences, Engineering or Info-communications Technology

  • Minimum raw GPA of 2.5 (excluding CCA bonus points) for entry to 1st year of a mapped 3-year diploma course.
  • Minimum raw GPA of 3.5 (excluding CCA bonus points) for entry to 2nd year of a mapped 3-year diploma course.

For graduates in Business & Services or Hospitality

  • Minimum raw GPA of 3.0 (excluding CCA bonus points) for entry to 1st year of a mapped 3-year diploma course.
Nitec qualifications (excluding Service Skills)

If your net GPA (including CCA bonus points) is 3.5 and above

You will be eligible to enter the 1st year of a related 3-year diploma course.

Bonus points

CCA bonus points

If you are a Higher Nitec and Nitec graduate, you are eligible to receive the following CCA bonus points:

  • CCA grade A (Platinum): 0.2 bonus points
  • CCA grade B (Gold): 0.15 bonus points
  • CCA grade C (Silver): 0.1 bonus points
  • CCA grade E (Bronze): 0.05 bonus points
These CCA bonus points are added to your raw GPA and the final GPA is used for posting purposes.

Bridging Mathematics (BM) bonus points

You are eligible for 0.1 bonus points if you meet one of the following:

  • Score 70 marks and above for BM 1 and apply for admission to Science & Technology (S&T) full-time diploma courses.
  • Passed BM 2 and apply for admission to S&T full-time diploma courses.
BM points are used for ranking purposes, and for posting into S&T choices only. BM bonus points are not taken into consideration when determining your eligibility to apply for a diploma course, or for posting into non S&T courses.
