What cannot be used for aggregate computation
You cannot use:
- The grades of Higher Mother Tongue Language and Mother Tongue Language in the same aggregate computation. For example, in ELR2B2-C aggregate type, if Higher Chinese is used as best subject B1, Chinese cannot be used as a best subject B2.
- “Merit” and “Pass” grades for the Mother Tongue ‘B’ Syllabus for aggregate computation.
- Higher Mother Tongue Language: Higher Chinese, Higher Malay and Higher Tamil
- Mother Tongue Language: Chinese, Malay and Tamil
- Mother Tongue ‘B’ Syllabus: Chinese ‘B’, Malay ‘B’ and Tamil ‘B’
Bonus points for admission
The bonus points are subtracted from your gross aggregate scores to obtain the respective net aggregate scores to assess course eligibility and for posting:
You can get a maximum of 2 bonus points from CCA grade.

- If you are a private candidate, current or ex-student of other types of institution (JC, MI or ITE) and are eligible to apply for polytechnic courses through JAE, you will still be entitled to CCA bonus points.
- The previous year's JAE net aggregate scores in CourseFinder are only used as a reference and do not guarantee admission. The actual course aggregate scores depend on students' O-Level results and course choices in the current JAE, which can differ from previous years.
