1. Admission matters and courses offered

To be eligible for admission to a 2-year Higher Nitec course at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), you must meet these 2 criteria:

  1. You must have sat for at least 5 O-Level subjects over a maximum of 2 years.
  2. Meet the minimum entry requirements (MER) of the course that you are applying for. Find out the MER of specific courses on CourseFinder or refer to this document for the consolidated MER of all courses.

What cannot be used for aggregate computation

You cannot use:

  • The grades of Higher Mother Tongue Language and Mother Tongue Language in the same aggregate computation.
  • “Merit” and “Pass” grades for the Mother Tongue ‘B’ Syllabus for aggregate computation.
  • Higher Mother Tongue Language: Higher Chinese, Higher Malay and Higher Tamil
  • Mother Tongue Language: Chinese, Malay and Tamil
  • Mother Tongue ‘B’ Syllabus: Chinese ‘B’, Malay ‘B’ and Tamil ‘B’

Bonus points for admission

The bonus points are subtracted from your gross aggregate scores to obtain the respective net aggregate scores for posting.

You can get a maximum of 2 bonus points from CCA grade achievement.

  • If you are a private candidate, current or ex-student of other types of institution (JC, MI or polytechnic) and are eligible to apply for ITE courses through JAE, you will still be entitled to CCA bonus points.
  • The previous year's JAE net aggregate scores in CourseFinder are only used as a reference and do not guarantee admission. The actual course aggregate scores depend on students' O-Level results and course choices during the JAE, which may differ from previous years.
