学生在第五届《我来报新闻》挑战赛展现创意与语言才能
This year, 491 students from 52 secondary schools participated in the fifth edition of the Young Reporter News Challenge (《我来报新闻》挑战赛). Jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), MediaCorp 8world and Speak Mandarin Campaign, with support from the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, the competition aims to develop students' interest and ability to communicate and present in Mandarin, as well as their media literacy skills.
2 Ms Jasmin Lau, Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the CPCLL, delivered a speech and presented awards to 28 winning teams at the Awards Ceremony. Please refer to the Annex for the list of winning teams. Entries by the finalists can be found at https://soyoung.8world.com/young-reporter-news-challenge-2026/shortlisted-entries.
3 Participants competed in one of two categories: "Fresh News" and "Creative News Bites 60". For "Fresh News", students were required to present an original news report of one to two minutes relating to campus life or their surrounding communities, while "Creative News Bites 60" challenged students' creative storytelling in producing news content of up to 60 seconds on the theme of campus environmental sustainability.
4 Following the competition, participants can look forward to a workshop in July 2026 to refine their news reporting skills, and a media camp in November 2026 to further improve their news and media literacy skills.
