News Press Releases

Update on Vaccination Progress

1. As of 2 March 2022, more than 240,000 children aged between 5 and 11 have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while more than 178,000 have received their second dose.

2. Among the students in our primary schools, we are heartened that we have made steady but good progress in the past two months with about 83% signing up thus far when invited, of which 81% have already received at least their first dose. In addition, we currently have another 1,500 students whose parents have opted in for the School-Facilitated Vaccination Exercise1, which will begin in Term 2.

3. 30,000 children born in 2016 and 2017 have also registered on the Ministry of Health's (MOH) National Appointment System (NAS) at child.vaccine.gov.sg. More than 26,000 have already received at least their first dose, while close to 13,000 have received their second dose.

Closure of Paediatric Vaccination Centre at Yusof Ishak Secondary School

4. Following the closure of two paediatric vaccination centres (VCs) at Nanyang Community Club (CC) and Queenstown CC, the paediatric VC at Yusof Ishak Secondary School (VC@YISS) will cease operations from 1 April 2022. With more children having signed up and taken their vaccinations, we will also announce the closure of more paediatric VCs in the coming weeks. The VC@YISS will continue to accept appointments made via the NAS up to 31 March 2022, but will no longer accommodate any walk-ins for their Dose 1 appointments from 10 March 20222 .

5. 12 paediatric VCs will remain in operation after the closure of the VC@YISS. Please refer to the Annex for a map of the remaining paediatric VCs.

6. We continue to encourage parents/guardians to get their child/ward vaccinated as soon as possible amid the Omicron surge. This will better protect our children against COVID-19, and prevent them from getting severely ill if they do get infected. It would also provide parents with a greater peace of mind, as our children continue to attend school and participate in school activities that are key to their development.
