Update on Vaccination Progress and Preparations for School-Facilitated Vaccination Exercise for Students in MOE Primary Schools

Published Date: 15 February 2022 07:39 PM

News Press Releases

1. As of 13 February 2022, about 213,000 children aged 5 to 11 have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while more than 120,000 have received their second dose.

2. Among the students in our primary schools, about 79% have signed up, with 75% already having received at least their first dose. We are on track for over 70% of our primary school students to have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine by end February 2022.

3. 23,500 pre-school children (i.e. born in 2016 and 2017) have registered on the Ministry of Health's National Appointment System (NAS) at child.vaccine.gov.sg, and close to 18,000 have received at least their first dose. More than 26,500 children have taken the COVID-19 vaccine under the general walk-in arrangement, which allows them to be vaccinated without a prior appointment at paediatric vaccination centres (VCs) from Mondays to Thursdays before 7pm.

School-Facilitated Vaccination Exercise in Term 2

4. In Term 2 (i.e. after March 2022 holidays), the Ministry of Education (MOE) will facilitate vaccinations for P1 to P6 students in MOE schools below the age of 12 by bussing them to the paediatric VCs under the School-Facilitated Vaccination Exercise. Parents/guardians can opt in for this support for students who are medically eligible and willing to be vaccinated without the accompaniment of parents.

5. Parents/guardians will be informed of the registration details via Parents Gateway on 18 February 2022. Those who wish to get their child/ward vaccinated before Term 2, can either walk-in to any paediatric VC from Monday to Thursday before 7pm1 without the need for a prior appointment, or book an appointment on the NAS.

6. We strongly encourage parents/guardians to get their child/ward vaccinated early amid the Omicron surge. This will reduce their chances of getting infected with COVID-19, and prevent them from getting severely ill if they do get infected. A high vaccination rate will also allow us to resume more school activities in a safe and calibrated manner, which are key to our students' holistic development.

Footnotes
  1. The paediatric VC at Yusof Ishak Secondary School will accept walk-ins from Monday to Thursday before 4pm.
