2022 MOE Kindergarten Virtual Open House and Registration Exercise

1 50 MOE Kindergartens (MKs) will be participating in the 2022 MK Registration Exercise for Kindergarten 1 (K1) admission in 2023. This includes seven new MKs that will be opening next year.

2 MKs provide quality and affordable pre-school education for children aged five and six. The MK curriculum is designed by pre-school specialists to nurture children holistically, so that they are confident, possess strong social skills and have a good foundation in literacy and numeracy.

3 At MKs, children engage in rich learning through relevant real-world activities enriched with a distinctive Singapore flavour. All MKs offer the three Mother Tongue Languages (MTLs) – Chinese, Malay and Tamil - to encourage bilingualism in the early years and help lay a strong foundation for language learning in the later years. They also work closely with the primary schools they are sited within, to help ease children's transition from Kindergarten to Primary 1.

4 Registration is open to Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident children born between 2 January 2018 and 1 January 2019, both dates inclusive. Parents can register their child for admission to an MK via the MK website (www.moe.gov.sg/mk)1, from 9am on 4 February 2022 to 4pm on 8 February 20222. Parents will be informed of the registration outcome by 31 March 2022. Outside this registration period, parents can also seek admission to K1 or K2 for their child by contacting the MK directly3 to check if there are vacancies.

5 In view of the COVID-19 situation, MKs will not be holding physical open houses to avoid intermingling and the risk of infection. The 2022 MK Virtual Open House will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on 29 January 2022 (Saturday) via Zoom. Parents can sign up for the MK Virtual Open House at the MK website (www.moe.gov.sg/mk)4 to learn more about individual MK's curriculum, programmes, facilities and other offerings before selecting their preferred MKs.
