About the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent Scheme (START)

MOE introduced START to support young Singaporeans keen on pursuing an academic career at our local universities. It also helps our universities strengthen their pool of academic talent in both research and teaching. The scheme provides a suite of scholarships and support options for undergraduates, postgraduates and those in the early stages of their academic career. To date, we have given out 91 awards under START over the last four years.

START comprises the following:

  • Ministry of Education – Autonomous University (MOE-AU) Scholarship
  • Overseas PhD Scholarship
  • Overseas Post-Doctoral Fellowship
  • Early Career Awards
