Strengthening mental health and well-being for all

Building mental health and well-being is a shared responsibility involving students, families, schools, communities and healthcare partners. Together, we can help every child build the confidence and resilience, and access the support they need to thrive.

Students’ mental health and well-being are shaped by many factors, including their habits, relationships, experiences and the support around them. Like physical health, mental health exists on a continuum, and all students experience ups and downs from time to time. Positive relationships, healthy coping strategies and timely support can help them navigate life’s challenges.

Supporting students' mental health and well-being is a shared responsibility. Schools provide caring and enabling environments, equip students with knowledge and skills, and connect those who need more help with appropriate support. Parents and caregivers reinforce these efforts at home, while students take positive steps to care for their own well-being and seek help when needed.

Together, these efforts help every child develop competence and confidence to thrive.

MOE’s approach is organised around three pillars:

Mental Health Key Pillars

Learn more about each pillar:

Strengthening mental health and well-being for all

Every student is equipped with the knowledge, skills and supportive experiences to strengthen their mental health and well-being.

Enabling an ecosystem of support

Every school has an ecosystem of support to identify students who may need help, and to provide support according to their needs.

Partnering parents, community and government agencies

Schools partner parents, community organisations and government agencies to strengthen support for students’ mental health and well-being.
