The Art/ Music TTS is a sponsorship for Diploma students who aspire to be Art or Music teachers in our primary schools.

For a start, you should be enrolled in an Art-/Design- or Music-related Diploma programme at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE), or a local polytechnic for the first 3 years.

Subsequently, you will become a trainee teacher and enrol in the 2-year Diploma in Art/Music Education (Primary) programme at the National Institute of Education (NIE). This will equip you with the pedagogical skills and teaching strategies to be an Art or Music teacher in a primary school.

Outstanding students may also be offered the opportunity to cross over to the NTU-NIE Bachelor of Arts (Academic Discipline & Education) degree programme. 

Sponsorship benefits and teaching bond

After you are successfully awarded the TTS, MOE will sponsor the tuition fees for the remainder of your studies at NAFA, LASALLE or the local polytechnic and NIE, allowing you to focus on having an enriching education experience. To further support you during your studies, you will also receive:

• A monthly allowance of $800 during your remaining studies at NAFA, LASALLE or the local polytechnic.
• A gross monthly salary of $2,695 during your 2 years at NIE.

After completing your NIE training, you will serve a 5-year bond as an Art or Music teacher in a primary school.

Minimum Requirements

• Be a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident.
• Have at least 5 GCE O-Level passes, including English Language as your First Language, or equivalent.

Art

• GCE O-Level Art or equivalent.
• Be enrolled in an Art-/Design-related Diploma programme at NAFA, LASALLE or a local polytechnic.

Music

• GCE O-Level Music/Grade 6 Practical and Grade 5 Theory from acceptable music examination boards or equivalent.
• Be enrolled in a Music-related Diploma programme at NAFA, LASALLE or a local polytechnic. 

Those who do not meet the minimum requirements but have successfully gained admission to an Art-/Design- or Music-related Diploma programme at NAFA, LASALLE or a local polytechnic may also apply.
