MOE Teaching Scholarships/Award (Full-Term)
2. Scholarship/Award Details
All scholars and award holders receive sponsorship for their undergraduate tuition fees and other approved programmes, a maintenance allowance, and the opportunity to undergo MOE developmental programmes to prepare them as future educators.
All applicants will be considered for the full range of MOE Teaching Scholarships and Award.

The MOE EMS and MOE TS are prestigious scholarships awarded to talented individuals, aimed at nurturing the next generation of educational leaders. The MOE EMS or MOE TS is tenable for undergraduate studies either at reputable overseas universities or at a local autonomous university, including the NTU-NIE Bachelor of Arts/Science (BABSc) programme.
The MOE TA is a prestigious award offered to individuals who possess a passion for teaching, tenable for undergraduate studies either at a local autonomous university or in the NTU-NIE Bachelor of Arts/Science (BABSc) programme.
From AY2025/2026 onwards, MOE will sponsor more individuals with interest and aptitude for teaching in MOE schools to join the BABSc Double Major programme. Some of these individuals will be offered placement in the NTU-NIE Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP) from the start. Other TA holders who do well in the BABSc programme may be offered placement in the TSP after Semester 1 of their second year of study, subject to them meeting the prevailing qualifying criteria for the TSP.

Reputable overseas or local universities* *MOE Teaching Scholars or Award holders can enrol in the 4-year double major undergraduate NTU-NIE Bachelor of Arts/Science (BABSc) programme which will equip them with an academic degree in arts or science-based subjects, as well as a teaching qualification. Those in the BABSc will not be required to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme. |

If you are enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at NIE, you will also have to serve a 3-year bond upon completion. This is concurrent with your scholarship bond. The discharge of your bond period starts on the day you assume official duty after completing your studies and NIE training (if applicable). |

As a recipient of MOE EMS, MOE TS or MOE TA, you will have the opportunity to pursue your undergraduate studies in the NTU-NIE Bachelor of Arts/Science (BABSc) programme. The BABSc is a 4-year double major programme which offers a forward-looking, multidisciplinary curriculum which combines academic content grounding with education and pedagogical knowledge. The programme aims to produce graduates with intellectual rigour, strong leadership skills, and a global perspective, who are ready to make significant contributions to the Education Service.

Outstanding students in the BABSc programme will have the opportunity to be placed in the Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP). The TSP is one of NTU’s premier scholars programmes.
