5. Enrolment into the National Institute of Education (NIE)

After successfully completing your contract teaching stint, you will, at the earliest opportunity, be enrolled at NIE for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme.

The programme aims to prepare you to be autonomous thinking teachers, equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to be effective and reflective educators who understand the key concepts and principles of teaching and learning and able to make sound professional judgements and decisions.

Apart from lessons at NIE, you get to apply your knowledge and skills in the teaching subjects and develop your teaching competencies in a variety of instructional contexts and at different levels under the guidance and supervision of experienced mentors during the Teaching Practicum.
