Lim Wee Kiat Graduated in 2017 ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) in Baking (2014-2015) and Baking Practices (2016-2017) Wee Kiat joined Metta School in 2014 and graduated in 2017 with an ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) in Baking Practices. During his final year, Wee Kiat completed his on-the-job training (OJT) in Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy and the company was so satisfied with him, they offered him a full-time position upon graduation. Wee Kiat now works as a Cook and manages the buffet stations in the hotel. He is versatile, positive and exudes enthusiasm in everything he does. Despite not having culinary training, he acquired new skills and adapted to the demands of his job. He also attended various training courses conducted by the hotel, including Customer Service. In 2018, Wee Kiat received the Best Talent of the Year (Heart of House) award and subsequently in 2019, he bagged an EXSA – Silver (Excellent Service Award). Today, Wee Kiat is an independent young man who navigates the world confidently. He is financially independent and is able to give his mother a monthly allowance as well as pay his own insurance premiums. Wee Kiat is planning to take up driving lessons in the near future and dreams of strengthening his culinary and pastry skills to build a career in the hospitality industry. |
Annie Lim Graduated in 2019 ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) in Food Preparation (2016-2017) and Hospitality Services (2018-2019) Annie enrolled into Metta School Vocational Programme in 2016. She took up the one-module ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) in Food Preparation. With successful completion of the course, she then progressed to ISC in Hospitality Services, in which she had the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in 3 other modules – Housekeeping Food and Beverage and Customer Service. Annie performed very well, attaining a GPA of 3.421, and with her excellent Workplace Literacy grades, she was admitted into ITE this year to pursue further training in Hospitality Operations. Annie is a mature, self-driven young lady who has demonstrated remarkable resilience. Despite the demands of the vocational programme, she has been diligently waitressing part-time in Marina Mandarin Hotel over the last couple of years. She would have continued her part-time work now if not for Covid-19. Annie is now coping relatively well in ITE. She is particularly looking forward to the Barista Skills module, as the artistry in her desires to learn to make amazing Latte Art and not just good coffee. Upon graduation from ITE, Annie aspires to continue her education in Polytechnic while financing herself through taking up more regular part-time work. |
Muhammad Arysad Bin Mohamad Nassir Class: C 2-1 Age: 14 Arsyad joined Metta School in 2017. Despite being the youngest in his family, Arsyad demonstrates independence in his daily living, community living and self-management skills. Arsyad is friendly, sociable and well-liked by his peers. He also participates actively and enthusiastically in events and activities including performances, student leaders training, camping and outings. During Performing Arts session, Arysad puts in effort and demonstrates a positive attitude by taking on leading roles with challenging dialogues in Speech and Drama, making him a prominent figure amongst students and teachers. He was the emcee for the 2019 Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony, and he did a good job with confidence. Academically, Arsyad is diligent, making good progress and consistently excels in his academic performance. In 2019, Arsyad was awarded both Best Performance in Literacy and Best Performance in Numeracy. With a curious mind and self-determination, he seeks knowledge beyond the classroom walls. He is keen to learn about the latest development in the world of technology and is constantly pursuing new information in this area as one of his leisure activities. He was appointed as Head Prefect this year, taking on a new role and teachers have commended that he is confident, reliable and responsible. |
