From our humble roots starting as a small provision shop in Ang Mo Kio, Sheng Siong has grown to become one of Singapore’s largest retailers with close to 70 stores island-wide today. Our chain stores are designed to provide customers with both “wet and dry” shopping options ranging from a wide assortment of live, fresh and chilled produce, such as seafood, meat, fruits and vegetables to packaged, processed, frozen and/or preserved food products as well as general merchandise, including toiletries and essential household products.

Potential career path and developmental opportunities for scholars

Scholars can expect to be starting in either one of the following functions:

• Supermarket Operations
• Sheng Siong Online Operations
• Procurement
• Housebrands
• Logistics & Warehousing
• Finance
• Human Resource

Over time, they will be exposed to all these functions either through rotations and through the usual course of their work. There may also be opportunities for them to be rotated to our overseas operations in China.

Scholars will likely begin as Management Trainees and over time should they perform well in their roles be expected to take on leadership roles in the company.
