Curriculum for secondary schools

Starting from the 2024 Secondary 1 cohort, the Normal (Technical), Normal (Academic) and Express streams will be removed. Under Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB), students will be posted through Posting Groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively instead and have greater flexibility to offer subjects at different subject levels as they progress through secondary school.

Schools offering Full SBB Schools with specialised curriculum Syllabus
Integrated Programme (including International Baccalaureate (IB) and NUS High School Diploma)
Crest Secondary School and Spectra Secondary School

Crest Secondary School and Spectra Secondary School offer an alternative pathway for students eligible for: (a) Posting Group 1 only or (b) the Posting Group 1/2 option band, who are more inclined towards practice-oriented, hands-on learning. They take the core subjects of English Language, Mother Tongue Language and Mathematics at G1. Selected students can take Science as an additional subject. Students with the aptitude in these subjects may also take them at G2 if they meet the eligibility criteria. Students are also given the opportunity to specialise in an ITE Skills Subject Certificate (ISSC), where they can choose 2 of 5 Skills Subjects offered:

  • Mechanical Design and Automation
  • Culinary and Restaurant Operations
  • Retail and e-Commerce
  • Internet of Things Applications
  • Mobile Web Applications

Students graduate with the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) and the ISSC, which are recognised for admission to ITE's 2-year Nitec or 3-year Higher Nitec programme.
