Eight Teachers Receive Top Honours for Dedication and Excellence in Education

1.Eight outstanding educators received this year’s President’s Award for Teachers from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the annual Teachers’ Day Reception on 3 September 2026. The recipients are:

2.President Tharman said: “My warmest congratulations to the eight recipients of this year’s Award. Your dedication exemplifies the best of the profession, and the lasting difference teachers make to the character and sense of purpose of the next generation.”

3.This year’s recipients were selected from 18 finalists by a panel chaired by Mr Darryl David, Chairperson of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education. The panel included representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE), Post-Secondary Education Institutions, and the COMmunity and PArents in Support of Schools (COMPASS). A total of 5,125 educators from 308 schools and seven post-secondary education institutions were nominated by school leaders, colleagues, parents, as well as former and current students. 4.Established in 1998, the President’s Award for Teachers recognises outstanding educators for their dedication and hard work in nurturing our young. Award recipients will be able to participate in an overseas learning programme and share their learning with the education fraternity. Award finalists will receive a grant to attend either overseas or local conferences, seminars, or courses.
