St. Joseph's Institution Junior and Yusof Ishak Secondary School Named Katapella 2026 Champions

  St. Joseph's Institution Junior and Yusof Ishak Secondary School have emerged as the champions of Katapella 2026, Singapore's national Malay choral recitation competition, in the primary school and secondary school categories respectively. Each winning team received trophies and book vouchers.

2. Jointly organised by the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC) and Mediacorp, Katapella aims to foster in students a deeper appreciation for the Malay language and culture beyond the classroom.

3. The results for the competition are as follows:

Yusof Ishak Secondary School

4. A total of 50 primary and secondary schools participated in the competition, with 12 schools – six from each category – advancing to the finals. Please see the Annex for the list of finalists. Through group performances, students showcased their linguistic talents and creative expression in the Malay language. The competition finals aired on Mediacorp Suria and MeWatch on 14 and 21 August 2026.

About the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee
