Five Teachers Lauded for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning of Malay Language

Five Malay Language teachers were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the teaching and learning of the Malay Language at this year's Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award Ceremony on Friday, 21 August 2026. Guest-of-Honour Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for National Development, presented the awards to the finalists and winners. See Annex for the list of award recipients.
2 Since 2007, the Awards have recognised 83 primary, secondary, and pre-university Malay Language educators. The Awards are presented in two categories: the (i) Role Model Category for teachers with 10 years of teaching service or more, and the (ii) Motivation Category for teachers with less than 10 years of teaching service.
3 All Malay Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible for nomination, based on their contributions from 2024 to 2025. This year, 422 nominations were received between February and March. The awardees were selected by a panel of judges comprising community leaders, academics from Institutions of Higher Learning, school leaders and media representatives.
4 The Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award 2026 is jointly organised by the Malay Language Council Singapore, Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian, and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee. For more information, please visit mllpc.moe.gov.sg.
About the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee
The Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC) was established in February 2006 by the Ministry of Education to bring together schools, community leaders, Malay organisations, the media and professional bodies to foster the learning of Malay language, literature and culture beyond the classroom.
