Three New Publications and Grant Call for Proposals to Support and Enrich Local Malay Literary Scene

The Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC) launched a novel titled 'JLN404', and two short story anthologies titled 'Jangan Ikut Hantu' and 'Tanah Air' on Friday, 14 August 2026, at The POD @ National Library Board. Guest-of-Honour Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, delivered a speech at the launch event.
2 The publications, commissioned by the MLLPC and penned by local writers Farihan Bahron, Djohan Abdul Rahman and Noridah Kamari, are part of efforts to promote an appreciation of the Malay language and cultivate a love of reading among young readers. They also aim to further encourage students to read and appreciate local literary works. Please see Annex for details of the publications.
3 At the event, Dr Syed Harun announced a third round of grant call for proposals to encourage writers to produce more Malay language content for children and young adults. The grant will provide funding to selected writers, enabling them to develop and publish new works that will enrich the local Malay literary scene.
