Around 550 students from 30 pre-university institutions1 participated in the Pre-University Seminar 2026 Closing Ceremony held at the National University of Singapore. Into its 57th edition, the annual seminar was co-organised by the Ministry of Education with Temasek Junior College this year. Themed 'WE: With Everyone', the seminar explores what it means to build an inclusive nation where every voice matters, every contribution counts, and every citizen shares in our collective success. Students explored the future of Singapore across three sub-themes and gained insights into a range of issues, policies, and perspectives to build a more united Singapore, through rich discussions and interactions at the event. The three sub-themes were "Our People, One Heartbeat", "Our Places, One Home", and "Our Purpose, Infinite Possibilities"2.

2. Minister for Education Mr Desmond Lee attended the Closing Ceremony on 5 June, where he delivered the keynote address and interacted with students in an engaging dialogue. Minister Lee also addressed questions about Singapore's current challenges and future directions surrounding the theme.

3. The theme for this year's seminar was inspired by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's call for a "We First" society. Drawing from the opening word of our National Pledge, 'WE: With Everyone' anchored the seminar one a fundamental principle that has long guided Singapore – one that emphasizes collective responsibility and well-being, and recognises that progress is strongest when we move forward together. This vision of Singapore's future was at the heart of Pre-University Seminar 2026.

4. The seminar, which was held from 2 to 5 June 2026, opened with learning experiences for students to gain firsthand insights, engage in meaningful discussions with key stakeholders and experts, such as academics and representatives from the public, private, and people sectors. Through these experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of the lived experiences of citizens affected by the challenges they were tackling. This was followed by panel discussions to broaden students' perspectives on their areas of interest. The seminar culminated in a showcase of student proposals.
