Nominations Open for Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award 2026

From 2 February to 13 March 2026, students, educators, parents, and members of the public are invited to nominate outstanding Malay Language teachers for the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Award (AGAB) 2026.

2. Jointly organised by the Malay Language Council, the Malay Language Teachers Association, Berita Harian and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee, the award recognises outstanding Malay Language teachers in primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and the Millennia Institute who have made exceptional contributions to the teaching of the Malay Language.

3. Nominees will be evaluated based on their ability to:

  • Inspire student engagement with the Malay language, literature and culture through creative teaching approaches and digital learning tools that foster interactive experiences, while equipping students with 21st century competencies;
  • Demonstrate care and concern for their students' well-being, holistic development and personal growth; and
  • Embody the values of Arif Budiman, a learned person who contributes to society through excellent and exemplary service as an educator.

4. Since its inauguration in 2007, the AGAB has honoured a total of 83 Malay Language teachers across the primary, secondary, and pre-university levels. This year, awards will be presented under two categories: (i) Motivation Award (less than 10 years in the teaching service), and (ii) Role Model Award (10 years and above in the teaching service).

5. The AGAB online nomination forms are available at www.mbms.sg, www.mllpc.sg and www.beritaharian.sg. Nominations can also be made online via https://go.gov.sg/agab-2026. Award recipients will be announced in September 2026.
