Six Teachers Recognised at Most Inspiring Tamil Teachers' Award Ceremony 2024

Six teachers received the Most Inspiring Tamil Teachers' (MITT) Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the teaching and learning of the Tamil Language. In addition to the MITT Award, one teacher was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award while two teachers received the Best National Institute of Education (NIE) Tamil Trainee Teachers' Award. 2. Guest-of-Honour Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, presented the awards to the recipients at the MITT Award Ceremony, which was held on Saturday, 21 September 2024.
3. Jointly organised by Tamil Murasu (TM), the Singapore Tamil Teachers' Union (STTU) and the TLLPC, the MIIT Award recognises the stellar performance of our Tamil Language teachers in educating and promoting Tamil language among their students. Award winners also serve as role models for other Tamil Language educators in nurturing our students' love for the language. Each award recipient will receive a trophy, a certificate of achievement and a cash grant.
4. This year, 511 nominations for 158 teachers were received between February and April 2024. All Tamil Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible to be nominated for the Award.
5. The awardees were selected by a panel of judges comprising key representatives and members from the teaching fraternity, TLLPC, TM and STTU. Since the Award's inception in 2002, it has affirmed the contributions of over 200 inspiring Tamil Language educators in our primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute.
