More Than 100 Students Recognised for Their Chinese Text Recital Skills in Annual Competition

108 primary and secondary school students were recognised for their vocal articulation, fluency and stage presence at the 7th National Text Recital Competition. Guest-of-Honour Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), presented awards to the winners at an award ceremony today. 2. This year, over 2,300 students from 247 primary, secondary schools and junior colleges submitted more than 1,300 video entries for the competition. In the lead-up to the competition, around 700 students participated in a virtual workshop conducted by the Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society to learn recitation techniques. More than 60 teachers also participated in a workshop conducted by a veteran broadcaster and voice talent, where they learnt ways to improve their students’ recitation skills.
3. Jointly organised by the CPCLL, Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School and Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society, the competition aims to raise students’ Chinese reading proficiency, and deepen their understanding and appreciation of the connotations, rhythm and beauty of the Chinese language.
