Close to 70 students were recognised for their singing and songwriting skills at this year's "Xin Kong Xia" (新空下) Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition Grand Finals held on 29 July 2023 at the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre. Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), presented awards to the winners at the event.

2 Jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Lianhe Zaobao, TCR Music Station and Jurong Pioneer Junior College, the competition aims to nurture interests in Chinese language and culture through Xinyao, Singapore's unique genre of Mandarin songs.

3 Now in its 9th year, the competition attracted more than 7100 participants from about 79 schools. The winning entry for the Lyrics Writing Category, 《写给我们》("Written for Us"), penned by Deng Wenxi and Bao Jingyi from Anderson Serangoon Junior College, was performed live during the finals.
