追逐梦想——2023年第四届爱上华文街舞比赛大决赛

Around 170 students from 18 schools participated in the fourth edition of the Chinese Street Dance Competition this year. Jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language (CPCLL) and Mandarin edutainment platform MaxKids, the competition aims to promote the learning of Chinese language and culture through music and dance.

2. This year, the competition was extended to aspiring student dancers at the primary level. A total of 31 teams from the primary to pre-university levels signed up for the competition. After a round of selection and online voting, 10 primary and eight secondary/JC/MI teams advanced to the finals where they had to introduce their dance in Mandarin and demonstrate their interpretation of the competition's theme "Aspirations" or "追逐梦想", through their choreography. Please refer to Annex A for the list of finalists for the competition.

3. At the competition finals and awards ceremony held at Our Tampines Hub on 20 May 2023, Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the CPCLL Ms Gan Siow Huang delivered a speech and presented awards to the winning teams of the primary and secondary school, as well as pre-university categories.

4. In the lead up to this year's competition, 15 schools took part in the school sharing sessions from February to March to expose students to Chinese street dance.

5. Following the competition, interested students can participate in community dance workshops held at selected community centres in June. A music video based on the competition theme song "Aspirations" featuring all the winning teams will also be released in July on www.cstreetdance.sg. For more information, please visit www.cpcll.sg.
