Winners of Pre School Chinese Language Storytelling Aids Competition 2020

Ten teams of pre-school Chinese Language (CL) teachers were recognised for their efforts in designing, creating and using innovative teaching aids to teach CL to pre-schoolers at the prize presentation ceremony for the 3rd Pre-school Chinese Language Storytelling Aids Competition today.

2. Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Ms Sun Xueling, presented the awards as Guest-of-Honour. The list of winners can be found in the Annex.

3. Organised by the CPCLL, the competition was held in February this year. It aims to motivate pre-school CL teachers to engage pre-schoolers and inculcate in them an interest in learning CL through creative storytelling.

4. Due to COVID-19, the CPCLL had shifted the final judging process online. The 16 teams of finalists, who were shortlisted from over 270 entries, were challenged to perform a storytelling session using their submitted teaching aids and share the inspiration behind the creation of the aids. This was followed by an interview session with the judges.

5. The six winners of the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award (CL), first announced during the e-Mother Tongue Language Symposium in August, also received their awards at the ceremony.
