Name and Constituency of Member of Parliament

Ms Cassandra Lee, West Coast-Jurong West GRC

Question

To ask the Minister for Education as part of efforts to reduce the stakes and stress associated with the PSLE, whether the Ministry will (i) study whether pupils with access to an affiliated secondary school experience lower PSLE-related stress and (ii) consider how more pupils could benefit from greater continuity between primary and secondary school, including through additional affiliation or school partnership arrangements.

Response

  1. Students may experience stress for many reasons. It is therefore difficult to isolate the effect of access to an affiliated secondary school on students’ stress.
  2. We thank the Member for her suggestion and will continue to study possible moves to manage the stakes associated with PSLE.
