Question
To ask the Minister for Education for each of the past five cohorts, whether the Ministry has data on the proportion of applicants admitted to the autonomous universities, broken down by whether the applicant held (i) a polytechnic diploma (ii) A-Level qualifications obtained through a junior college or (iii) A-Level qualifications obtained as a private candidate.
Response
- In recent Autonomous University (AU) intake cohorts, A-Level holders and polytechnic diploma holders each constitute around 45% of the local students admitted to full-time undergraduate programmes. The proportion of those admitted with A-Level qualifications obtained as a private candidate has remained small, at less than 1% of intake.
