Question
To ask the Minister for Education given that not all primary schools offer Tamil and Malay as mother tongue languages, how does the Ministry ensure that children from these language communities are not disadvantaged under the Primary 1 registration framework when the schools nearest to their homes do not offer their mother tongue language.
Response
- Sir, in the planning of schools, the Ministry of Education ensures that our students can access a primary school near their homes. Except for a small number, 15, of Special Assistance Plan schools, all primary schools offer the three official Mother Tongue Languages.
