Question

To ask the Minister for Education how many children have not successfully secured a placement for their Primary 1 education in 2026 and what are the reasons so.

Response

1. All Singaporean children who participated in the 2025 Primary One (P1) Registration Exercise have secured a place in a national primary school for P1 in 2026.

2. There are about 2880 Singaporean children who did not participate in the 2025 P1 Registration Exercise. Most of these children are either residing overseas, seeking exemption from Compulsory Education, or are in the process of applying for or have received placement in SPED schools.
