Ms Hazlina Abdul Halim, East Coast GRC
Question
To ask the Minister for Education in view of the central kitchen model coming up in 2026, how can the Ministry consider involving students in simple stages of food procurement, preparation, or distribution so as to promote independence and a sense of community, which have been integral to the canteen culture in Singapore's schools.
Response
Our schools promote independence and a sense of community in students through a range of existing school programmes, such as Outdoor Adventure Learning camps and Co-Curricular Activities. We do not intend to involve students in food procurement, preparation or distribution in order to achieve these objectives.
