Name and Constituency of Member of Parliament

Dr Hamid Razak, West Coast-Jurong West GRC

Question

To ask the Minister for Education (a) whether the Ministry's published annual teacher resignation rate includes teachers who have left full-time service but have joined the Flexi-Adjunct Teaching (FAJT) Scheme; and (b) if so, whether the Ministry can provide the adjusted attrition figures reflecting only those who have exited the teaching profession entirely for the last three years.

Response

1. The annual teacher resignation rate counts all teachers who have resigned from the Education Service, including those who subsequently joined the Flexi-Adjunct Teaching (FAJT) Scheme. The annual resignation rate from 2022 to 2024 was 2.4% on average. As of end-2024, excluding those who subsequently joined the FAJT Scheme, the adjusted annual resignation rate from 2022 to 2024 would be 1.7% on average.
