Question
To ask the Minister for Education (a) what is the number of applicants who are not successful after Phase 2C Supplementary in the recently concluded Primary One Registration Exercise; and (b) whether the Ministry will consider reaching out to parents of such unsuccessful applicants to take into account their circumstances and views before allocating them to an available primary school.
Response
- In the 2025 P1 Registration Exercise, around 400 P1 registrants, representing 1% of all registrants, were not yet registered with a school after Phase 2C Supplementary. Since parents generally prefer schools nearer to their homes, MOE assists by placing their child in a nearby school with available vacancies. For most of these cases, MOE was able to post them to a school within 2km of their residential address. Parents may reach out to the school or MOE if they have queries.
