Question

To ask the Minister for Education whether ITE graduates under the age of 25 can be allowed to use their SkillsFuture credits to improve their skills or undertake courses to enhance their employability.

Response

1. The SkillsFuture Credit commences at age 25 as it is targeted at Singaporeans who have generally completed their full-time education and are in, or are preparing to join, the workforce. Further, Singaporeans below the age of 25 can also use their Post-Secondary Education Accounts (PSEAs) to defray out-of-pocket fees for approved programmes.

2. More importantly, beyond the SkillsFuture Credit, Singaporeans have access to a wide range of measures to support their skills development. This include subsidies of up to 97% of course fees for various training programs, such as a part-time Higher Nitec module which has a subsidised fee of about $40.

3. ITE graduates who require employment assistance can also approach either ITE’s Career Services Centre, or the network of career centres made available by Workforce Singapore.
