Supporting students of all backgrounds in developing their talents

Supporting students of all backgrounds in developing their talents
We thank Xu Qiwen for her feedback ("课程辅助活动不应是财力赛场", 10 July) and share her views that all students, regardless of their backgrounds, should be provided with opportunities to develop their talent.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) play an important role in the holistic development of our students. Our schools have structured processes to proactively nurture students from all backgrounds to develop their interests and talents. Where appropriate, we work with community partners and professional coaches to develop the talents of our students' talents through these CCAs. The Ministry of Education (MOE) also runs the Junior Sports Academy to support primary school students with sporting potential.
In the selection of students for Direct School Admission (DSA) or school teams for respective CCAs, schools take a holistic and balanced approach and will consider various factors such as the student's commitment, strengths, potential and other personal qualities, which are beyond skills and achievements. There is no need for students to receive private coaching or attend enrichment classes to be considered for school teams, DSA, or CCAs.
MOE remains committed to working with schools, families and partners to build a supportive environment so that our students, regardless of their starting point, can develop to their fullest potential.
