Allowing More Children to Attend Primary Schools Near Their Homes

Allowing more children to attend primary schools near their homes
We thank Mr Liu ("Primary One registration system should be improved", 6 July) for his feedback.
Most students already do study in a school near home (within 2km). In the last decade, 98% of each Primary One (P1) cohort had enrolled in a school that was near their home or of their choice.
Moving forward, the Ministry of Education remains committed to enabling students to enrol in a primary school close to their home.
This is why we doubled the number of reserved places in Phase 2C from 20 to 40 from 2022 onwards, to support more children in enrolling into a nearby school that they have no prior connection with.
