The Ministry of Education-Autonomous University (MOE-AU) Scholarship is part of the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent scheme (START) that was established in 2015. The undergraduate scholarship supports young Singaporeans who demonstrate the interest and ability to pursue a career in academia in our local AUs:
  • National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
  • Singapore Management University (SMU)
  • Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
  • Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
  • Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

MOE-AU Scholars will be supported in their undergraduate studies with development opportunities and academic mentorship from MOE and their paired AU to introduce them to and prepare them for a career in academia.

Upon graduation from undergraduate studies as an MOE-AU Scholar, the MOE-AU Scholar is expected to apply for, obtain and accept a PhD scholarship (under START) from the AU which the scholar is paired with. Upon graduation from postgraduate studies under START, the scholar would serve a bond of four to six years in the paired AU as an academic staff.
