Tuition Grant Scheme: Overview

Eligible Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents and international students can receive a Tuition Grant for selected full-time diploma and undergraduate courses at the Institutes of Higher Learning.

The Tuition Grant (TG) is provided by the Singapore Government to help students manage the costs of full-time tertiary education in Singapore.

Eligible Singapore Citizens (SC), Singapore Permanent Residents (PR) and international students (IS) enrolled in selected full-time diploma or undergraduate courses at the following Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) may receive it.

  • Autonomous universities
  • Polytechnics
  • The Institute of Technical Education (ITE)
  • Arts institutions

TG recipients pay subsidised tuition fees.

There are 3 tiers of TG (Tier A, Tier B and Tier C), with Tier A providing the highest level of tuition fee subsidy for SCs. The grant amount varies by citizenship status and course of study.

Check with your institution or on its website for the subsidised tuition fees.

Who is eligible

You are eligible if you have not received a TG, subsidy, sponsorship or scholarship from the Singapore Government to obtain qualifications that are the same level as or higher than your course.

For example:

  • Diploma holders cannot receive TG for another diploma course.
  • Degree holders cannot receive TG for diploma or another degree course.

TG is not applicable for students taking:

  • Part-time diploma or degree courses.
  • Advanced diploma or specialist diploma courses.
  • Any course conducted by private education institutions.

Select your profile to find out which IHLs and types of courses you can enrol in to be eligible for TG, and your bond obligation.
