Deferment to serve National Service

You must apply for deferment before your enlistment date if you are serving National Service (NS) in your home country.

To apply for deferment to serve National Service in your home country:

  1. Submit a request for deferment via the TG&S portal at least 6 weeks before the start of your overseas enlistment.
    • Attach a scanned copy of your enlistment letter. You can refer to the step-by-step guide.
    • If you have recently graduated and tried to apply for deferment on the TG&S portal but received an error message, contact us for assistance.
  2. Submit a Banker’s Guarantee at least 1 week before leaving Singapore.
