MOE Pre-University Scholarship

Scholarships of up to $2,400 per year are offered to top-performing Pre-University 1 students. Learn about it.

This scholarship is offered to top Pre-University 1 students who have achieved outstanding academic results and excelled in co-curricular and other activities.

It is awarded for 2 years. The award covers an annual allowance of $750 and school fees based on Singapore Citizen’s rates less any subsidies, subject to annual cap of $2,400, as long as the student meets the renewal criteria.

Who is eligible

Singapore Citizens, or non-Citizens with at least 1 parent who is a Singapore Citizen, who:

  • Have done consistently well in school and obtained an aggregate score of 8 points or less (without bonus points deduction) in their GCE O-Level examinations for English and Higher Mother Tongue, or Mother Tongue and 5 relevant subjects as in the Pre-University admission criteria, or equivalent based on the school's internal assessment.
  • Have good co-curricular activities record.
  • Have good conduct record.
Additional requirements Scholarship recipients must not be concurrent recipients of any other MOE scholarships except the Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools (ESIS).
 How to apply

For IP students:

Application for 2027 cycle will start in mid-October 2026.

For all other students:

Application for 2026 cycle starts on Wednesday, 14 January and ends at 11.59pm on Wednesday, 25 February 2026. No offline applications will be accepted after application period ends.

To apply for the scholarship, a valid SingPass account with 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) is required to access the application system. Details on the application for a SingPass can be found on the SingPass website. As the set up for SingPass Myinfo may not be immediate, we strongly encourage students to complete your SingPass application early to avoid encountering technical issues close to application closing.

Log in to the application system through your Singpass and register as a new user to create an account using your personal valid email account. After your account has been successfully created, you may log in using your Singpass to access the application form. Please ensure you click the 'SUBMIT' button after you have completed all the sections of the application form. You will receive an email confirmation acknowledging that your application has been received.

You will need to submit an essay of about 500-600 words on either of the following questions:

  1. Write about a time when your leadership was challenged or questioned. How did you respond, and what did this experience teach you about effective leadership?
  2. Write about a challenge facing Singapore society today. How might this challenge impact future generations, and what should we do to address it?

When submitting your essay, indicate the question you have selected and provide a title that captures what your essay is about. Please ensure that your essay does not exceed 600 words.

 Selection for interview

If you are in the Integrated Programme, your school will nominate you for the scholarship selection interview which commences in February.

If you are not in the Integrated Programme, you will be invited for the scholarship selection interview based on your GCE O-Level examination results. Interviews commence in late April - May.
Announcement of results Successful candidates will be notified in August.
