Fabrica AI

Fabrica AI is creating a future where ideating and developing a robot for any task takes days, not years. We believe that by training end to end controls in simulation with reinforcement learning and above that iterating hardware designs, we can automate the whole development process.

To validate our approaches for our AI system and to collect data, we invented an automatic tile grouting robot that boosts productivity by up to 5x. Fabrica AI has swiftly gained recognition and established a foothold in the local Built Environment industry and are piloting it on construction sites in Singapore managed by Woh Hup, BHCC, Gin Chia, Soilbuild, Chan Rong Fen, and Dragages. Tile grouting is the process of filling up the gaps between tiles after the tiles have been laid. We invented a patent pending robot that is able to automatically grout and clean tile gaps with only a press of a button.

We have raised over 2.3m USD from Hoxton Ventures, Credo Ventures, our Professor from Cambridge, and the owner of BHCC (listed construction company). We have 2500sqft of space in Singapore where we have over 20 team members, and 400sqft of space in Czechia where we have our software team.

Beyond our robot development, Fabrica AI’s true aspiration is to revolutionise robotics through eliminating the slow and costly nature of traditional robot development. Our vision is to create a platform that expeditiously generates robot designs and their optimal control policies, streamlining processes and unlocking new possibilities.

Potential career path and developmental opportunities for scholars

Our development process is very iterative and agile. Thus, there would not be a concrete plan more than 2 weeks ahead and your role/tasks is/are likely to evolve over time. If you like this process, you would be a good fit for us. You would thus play a significant part in deciding how your work would contribute to our overall goals.

At the time of writing in late 2023, we are in-between a small startup with no structure and a large structured corporation where some procedures have been set-up, design changes and assembly process goes through a methodical check and balance process, but the development and job scope is still likely ever changing. We currently have roles spanning Reinforcement Learning, Embedded Programming, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing (and Design for Manufacturing), and other Business Operations.

Scholars will thus be offered a comprehensive and multifaceted educational experience. Given that scholars are expected to be the next generation of leaders in our company, some level of hands-on involvement, interdisciplinary skills, and ability to communicate and collaborate between disciplines is of utmost importance.

We would only consider applicants who have interned with us before, starting from post A-Level, IB, or NUS High Diploma. Some level of part-time involvement during university would be preferred too.
