This is an interdisciplinary programme tied to the Humanities Scholarship that is open for application to junior college (JC) students and aims to develop the humanities scholars into values-driven and thought leaders at the local, regional and global levels.

Overview

What is HSP?

The HSP is an interdisciplinary programme tied to the Humanities Scholarship that is open for application to JC students. The HSP aims to develop students into:

  1. Thought leaders who harness critical thinking, creativity and social intelligence to solve problems in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world.
  2. Values-driven leaders who uphold worthy causes, empathise with others and exercise integrity.
  3. National, regional and global leaders who possess a strong sense of place within the nation and grasp the challenges and opportunities that arise from regional and global developments.

The HSP has 2 signature events:

  • Annual HSP Overseas Enrichment Programme: Broadens the intellectual horizon of the humanities scholars by increasing the formal curriculum in the Humanities through study and immersion opportunities beyond the borders of Singapore.
  • Biennial HSP Symposium: Facilitates students in applying knowledge, skills and values from the humanities, to develop perspectives on current and potential issues facing Singapore in the context of regional and global developments.

How to apply

The Humanities scholarship is awarded in JC Year 1 to students admitted to the Humanities Scholarship and Programme (HSP).

The application periods for the scholarship are:

  • For IP students: Mid-October to mid-November of IP Year 4.
  • For non-IP students: Mid-January to mid-February of JC Year 1.
