News Press Releases

A new Chinese language reading resource for primary school students was launched by Minister of State for Education and Chairperson of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) Ms Gan Siow Huang at the awards ceremony for the latest National Children's Story Writing Competition ("创意无限"全国儿童故事创作大赛) on Friday, 16 September 2022.

2. Titled <记"疫"宝盒>>, the resource comprises a compilation of 36 winning entries from the competition, which saw over 1,200 creative submissions ranging from primary schools to tertiary institutions. The resource, which is categorised into six different reading levels, will be distributed to all primary schools from mid-September.

3. At the event, Minister of State Ms Gan Siow Huang also presented awards to recipients of the inaugural National Vlog Competition for Primary School Students ("我们是小网红"全国小学生短视频制作比赛), which attracted more than 360 entries from 60 schools. Aimed at encouraging the use of Chinese language for communication and to nurture primary school students' interest in Chinese culture, the competition challenged students to form teams of up to five contestants to produce three-minute video clips to creatively express their views on the themes of "Home" and "Love".

4. Jointly organised by CPCLL and the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, the competitions are part of broader efforts to inculcate interest and appreciation for Chinese language and culture among students. Please see Annex for a full list of winners for both competitions.
