Smooth Start to First Day COVID-19 Paediatric Vaccination

Published Date: 27 December 2021 03:00 PM

News Press Releases

1. As part of national efforts to keep our children, their families and the wider community safe, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) announced the extension of the national vaccination programme to include children aged 5 to 11 on 21 December 2021, with registration rolled out in phases from 22 December 2021.

2. The vaccination programme commenced on 27 December 2021, with all 3,300 slots for the seven paediatric vaccination centres (VCs) fully taken up. The first-day vaccination operations have proceeded smoothly.

3. With the remaining eight VCs opening up in January 20221, more vaccination slots will be progressively released to facilitate registrations for Primary 1 to Primary 3 students in MOE schools and Madrasahs from 5 January 2022 (Wednesday), and all remaining children aged 5 to 8 via the NAS from 6 January 2022 (Thursday)2. The VCs will also gradually ramp up their operations to allow more vaccination appointments each day.

4. We strongly encourage parents/guardians to register their child/ward for vaccination when they receive the invitation, if they are medically eligible, so that families can get their desired dates for vaccination, and better protect their children against COVID-19.
